Good Luck if you buy this one. It just DIED. I could smell electrical/plastic smell. What a joke these people turned out to be. I was using it and was happy with it. One day I was making a copy, it just stopped. Tried contacting HP and was given the brush off.
While shopping for it, I found a cellphone someone had lost. They left my HP C4280 printer in the back seat. The display screen stopped working and the printer ink expired earlier than expected. But when I got back to my car, someone had broken into it and stolen my car stereo.
I advise you to do the same. I can replace this one without breaking the bank. Holy crap -- I was certainly not alone in my misery.Fortunately, all-in-ones are not horrifically expensive nowadays. I should have known there would be some bad mojo associated with this printer, though. I bought it at a brand-name office supply store. I even refused a small reward. I guess they knew better than to steal a piece of junk. This printer worked fine for me for a while, then one day (after about 6 months of non-use) it didn't.
But I will steer clear of HP products. The price was certainly right when I bought it. I tracked the owner down and drove to his place of work to return it. Then I hopped on Amazon.com to read the customer reviews of this product.
I'll buy a canon or epson next time. I am angry that I allowed Apple to sell me this piece of s***. Printer doesn't print black, even though ink supply is new. This is the worst piece of junk, ever. HP has lost its 'quality' reputation with me.
Talk about over-engineering and needlessly complex. Mind you, I've printed hundreds of cards on this printer over the year - the same stock, and now it jams all of the time. Once the date has passed, the printer won't recognize the cartridge and won't scan the alignment, so every time you turn it off it and then on again, it prints an alignment page and then gives you errors because it can't scan the page because the cartridge is too "old". While they used to be good and reliable, now they are not.
Everything prints and scans fine, and then the printer proceeds to jam with card stock. The problems I've had are endless. Customer service was laughable and useless.I'm printing instead off of my old HP 970c and am planning to buy a new printer - Epson or something better. Copying on the printer is ridiculously slow, and every time you change the cartridges, you have to align the cartridge - which requires scanning, which my printer was not able to do consistently (regardless of what computer, if any, it was hooked up to). I got this printer from Apple as a rebate when I purchased my MacBook. At first, the color cartridge that came with the printer wouldn't print all colors, so whenever I printed anything with even a smidge of color (even one highlighted word), the entire print job would come out in bright red. Then I purchased a new "large" cartridge from Staples - didn't know there is an EXPIRATION DATE. The final straw came for me when I had to purchase another new cartridge from Staples (and they are expensive).
BE WARNED and don't buy an HP. We've had HP printers for years, and been very pleased. After 3 hours on the phone with tech support, they sent me a new cartridge, which took three weeks to arrive. to replace the outdated cartridge.
We get a LOT of "USB not connected". (Maybe not HP).We're in the market for a new one. Sure it's a decent printer, it's got a great set-up what with printing, scanning, copying and whatnot. It works so long as it stays connected with the PC. Overall, don't waste your time and money on this.
I draw so the scanner was important and so was the printing, as we like to create T-shirt Iron-Ons. It's such a pain. We can never seem to get it to stay connected with the computer for very long. Try something different. My family and I got this as an all-over printer scanner.
WHICH IT DOESN'T.We've had NOTHING BUT TROUBLE with this printer. It's great but the connection causes me to hate it with a vengence.
